Operating systems
Be aware of the following before reviewing the table below:
- The
operating systems listed below are deemed supported or certified to reflect
the level of internal testing that each configuration was exposed to
for the current release. MicroStrategy recommends using certified
configurations over the supported configurations.
- MicroStrategy certifies and supports operating systems that are compatible with a set of CPU chipsets, referred to as CPU architectures, that are binary-compatible. MicroStrategy tests on at least one of the CPU chipsets within a set of binary-compatible CPU architectures for purposes of certifying and supporting operating systems with MicroStrategy products. A valid CPU architecture is provided in parentheses () to clarify the operating system software certified or supported for Intelligence Server.
- All UNIX
and Linux operating systems are 64-bit.
- For information on LDAP servers certified and supported for LDAP authentication with various Intelligence Server machine environments, see LDAP Server Authentication.

Clustering
MicroStrategy Intelligence Server clustering
MicroStrategy has certified MicroStrategy Intelligence Server clusters of up to four nodes. However, it is
important to note the following known issues in clustered configurations:
- Under high stress situations, report requests may time out because of disk contention (one or more users attempt to read the same disk at the same time) when synchronizing caches.
- The Read/Unread status flag is not synchronized across all nodes in the cluster. If a user retrieves an item from his History List and a failover occurs, the user may see an Unread flag for the item being retrieved.
- Caches for reports that contain prompts within prompts may not be synchronized across all nodes in the cluster. If a failover occurs, executing such a report may not hit a cache on a different node.
- For customized Web pages, when using the KeepAsIsFlag in History List operations, some of the messages do not have a valid result. When retrieving the result, MicroStrategy Web displays the following: Result in status 0, expected status 1.
Web server clustering
MicroStrategy has only tested with two-node web server clusters. However, since web server clustering is external to MicroStrategy products, Intelligence Server introduces no limits on the number of nodes in your web server cluster. Refer to documentation from your web server cluster technology provider for any known limits.
